Scott Stratten Speaks on The Rules of Engagement
I’m sure you all have heard of the “party principle” when it comes to social networking. Well I’ve heard many theories on how to market and how make money on the Web, but the only one that leaves you feeling good at the end of the day is Scott Stratten’s “don’t market to people the way you wouldn’t want to be marketed to.”
He has over 48,000 followers on Twitter (@unmarketing) and he didn’t use some kind of cheap software that automatically follows people with somewhat similar bios or tweets. He did the work organically and people love him for it.
One odd thing about Scott is he describes himself as grumpy, and I guess he does come across a bit irritated and sarcastic at times, but his message is real. He really wants businesses to rethink blasting people with advertisements 24/7 and start building relationships. I consider not just a poignant writer, but a great mentor.
Seriously, after you watch the video check out his blog. His writing really is masterful and his tips are revolutionary.

Your url made me smile. I’d say that’s a good think. I went through Stratten’s Bootcamp when it was fairly new. I think if anyone actually makes the effort to follow his advice they won’t have “competition” online. That is one thing that he emphasizes. If you are authentic, if you be yourself, you have no competition. He’s right, I work with him because I like his attitude;) Glad you enjoyed the post.
