How to Get Rid of Acne, Naturally.
I shared about the oils I use on my skin to prevent breakouts, but I today I want to share with you the process of getting to clear skin because I do not believe that it is just the oil that I use.
My process of clearing up my skin of this so called disease really involves a health protocol which began with reading the Perricone Prescription quite a few years back.
I study natural medicine, and after I discovered that Ayurvedic doctors and doctors of Eastern medicine treat acne with cleansing herbs, I decided to get clean. Dr. Perricone recommended cutting sugar and strenuous exercise. It was many years before I did those two things, but I think that high fructose corn syrup and genetically modified foods (GMOs) were the real enemies.
I eat organic produce now. I try to buy meat from animals who have not been shot up with antibiotics and have not been fed GMOs foods or pesticides. It’s not easy, but I can tell you that I’m aging a lot slower than my peers because of it.
I will give you a quick scoop on obesity and acne because they are nutritional issues more than anything. Zinc deficiency and now Omega 3 deficiency (which you can get through avocado, salmon, walnuts, flax seed, etc.) help stave off breakouts. The foods readily available to us are generally chocked full of GMOs which are toxic to the body.
What does the body do with toxins?
Generally, it stores them away in fat cells to protect the vital organs from damage. And, it also pushes the toxins out through the urinary tract and skin. The skin! Do you have swollen lymph nodes? That is a similar reaction of the body as the formation of acne.
So, it is recommended that you drink a lot of water to help flush out toxins, but if you were aware of just how toxic your environment is, you might get on a regular cleansing routine such as Bragg’s Apple Cidar Vinegar cleansing protocol. Boy do I drink a lot of apple cider vinegar since my friend at the health food store recommended it to end breakouts.
I also have found out that the transdermal magnesium I use helps to clean out toxins naturally from the body. I won’t go too much into it, but most adults don’t get enough magnesium due to environmental factors and poor absorption of tablets. So, most adults are overweight because they are toxic waste dumps!
I’m sorry, but there are some “foods” that we eat that other animals will not touch because of the petrochemicals used to increase their shelf life or other unnatural ingredients. Sorry for going on a rant about this, but I have researched these topics for years trying to fix my acne problem which persisted after being on a number of different dermatologist prescribed drugs (killers) like Accutane, and I want to help you recover without damaging your liver or other vital organs.
My Acne Free Regimen
1) Water – First of all, our body is 70-80% water last I read, and water is necessary for all functions of the body. I drink water, and I don’t drink juice unless I make it myself; there is just something about pasteurization that does not sit well with me.
2) Apple Cider Vinegar – Yeah, I use Bragg’s brand because it is organic and they have the directions for use on the side of the bottle. My local health food store actually sells a variety of flavored apple cider vinegar beverages from Bragg’s.
3) Sleep – I get quality sleep, although I may not always get many hours of sleep. It’s likely a result of the transdermal magnesium because the creator of it does say it improves sleep quality and focus.
4) Face Food – Dr. Oz, quoting another physician, said, “If you can’t eat it, don’t put it on your skin. “ Most of the acne products available at your local pharmacy do not meet this criterion. Think about it, many of them have poison control warnings or recommend seeing your doctor if you accidentally ingest them. They are toxic. You are putting toxins on your face, so the body has to push them back out some way…just saying.
Yeah, so, right now I am just using steaming with castor oil, aloe vera (eating it and applying it) and coconut oil (my main “go to’) with very pleasing results. Did I mention coconut oil is a natural sunblock?
Nadia, at bodyunburdened.com recommended a number of other oils for clear skin which you can read about here.
This acne free regimen may be too much for many of you to follow, but at least take away the principles and see what happens after apply a few. I wish you the best on your acne free journey.
P.S. Be organic all the way! Your children and body will thank you. My detoxed, organic body is thinner and sexier without hard workouts. I am slowly switching over to natural fabric too since I learned that our largely plastic-based fabrics introduce toxins into the body. Oy Veh!
